2007 has hurtled past and we are now in 2008 with the end of the noughties in sight. Jan '08 is the 15-month mark for Dan and me in Aotearoa. To mark this auspicious occasion, we went up to Hamilton for Christmas and then made our way to the Coromandel peninsula for 6 days over New Year. I have to say the holiday-period was remarkably stress-free and relaxing. While heading off on a walk, I spotted this sign near my parents' house. Coincidence? I think not... During the walk, Dan and I ventured along the mighty Waikato river, which was actually looking very tranquil and inviting. On 27 December, we visited Raglan with Kevin, Esther and Juliet, who is now a few days shy of 4 years old. Both these pictures of Julie were taken during this trip, representing two separate moods - thoughtful cafe patron and manic butterfly-girl. Raglan seems to be booming even more each time we visit. Here's hoping that doesn't mean it will lose the things about it that are so appealing....
Will be updating my blog with more thrilling installments from our beach holiday over the next week or so. As a brief outline, we left the Tron on 28 December and headed to Whitianga via Tairua. During the course of our stay, we visited Flaxmill Bay, Lonely Bay, Cooks Beach, Hahei, Coromandel Town ... and even Paeroa and Te Aroha, for old time's sake. We went on a boat-trip, did some snorkelling, went on a massive trek, drove down two metal roads, went on one narrow-gauge railway, and swam every day. Needless to say, the return to work was somewhat of a reality-check...

For the unenlightened "Aged" is used in the sense of Old and wise!! Of course the mighty Waikato is tranquil --what were you comparing it too:Cook Strait in a "mild" wellington zephyr. I do wonder which of Julie's qualities she inherited from her aunt? Mmm-perhaps the manic bit!? Glad you enjoyed the break up in Tron
